Taum Gale
Artist Bio
Tatum Gale is a songwriter-producer based in New Orleans.
Born in Portland, Maine and raised on jazz piano, he began producing indie electronic while at college in Philadelphia and continued to do so during his Brooklyn years—during which time he also served as a producer and collaborator for some of the five boroughs’ most expressive and unique voices, such as Laura Jinn, Gabi Diaz, and FORQ.
Gale’s electronic efforts have understated, heterogeneous attributes, marked by an emphasis on chord structure and tone, which harken to his traditional background in jazz piano performance. His songs are furnished with an eccentric, effervescent quality and filled with percussive life, reflecting his love of synth-driven music and its various subgenera (particularly nu-disco and mellow electronica). This novel take on electronic also makes his outputs recommended listening for fans of Toro y Moi, Four Tet, James Blake, and Róisín Murphy.
In marrying these primary influences, Gale’s music serves as an appropriate vehicle to express his love of the natural world while soundtracking the human condition, employing both analog and synthetic textures alongside found sounds to create a sonic expression of modern life and our respective places within it.
His debut effort Pretty Green will be independently released in March 2023.
